Technology Conference

I really enjoyed having the opportunity to participate in the College of Education tech. conference this year. While at the conference I attended the Twitter presentation which was all about how to use twitter if you were an educator. Before this conference I wasn't really sure how to even use Twitter and thought it was pretty much just for famous people to post "status updates" and for non-famous people to follow and read them. After attending this presentation I realized that twitter is not just for famous people. Anyone can have one and it is a great tool to stay connected with other teachers or other educators. You can follow teachers who have the same interests as you, teach the same grade level, teach in the same area or whatever you want basically. Twitter is super easy to set up and become a member of and the site is pretty easy to navigate so I would recommend that everyone get a twitter so you can follow your friends or colleagues. I think it was a really good idea to have our class attend this conference to help learn more about how technology can be useful in the education field and would recommend all teaching majors go next year, even if it is not required for a class.

  1. I was there with you at the same session! I also enjoyed learning that we can use twitter to follow other educators and not just famous actresses/actors/singers/etc. I think twitter is false advertised and I glad that my misconceptions of the social network have been cleared up. I still wish he would have given us more idea about how to use it in the CLASSROOM and not just how to navigate the site. I just wish I knew of ways to use it in the curriculum so I could share with other educators the benefits of twitter and not just the "stalker" aspect of it.
